Persevering When Put on Ice: Job of the Quarter

1/15/2022 (Permalink)

Icy highway After enduring what they did, many may not have continued on to the job after finally getting out of that traffic, but Sulma and her team persevered.

If you checked the news at any point on the morning of Tuesday, January 4th, chances are you saw or heard about the massive shutdown caused by a winter storm on Interstate 95 that left motorists stranded on the Virginia highway for about 24 hours. This calamity may seem far from home but, in fact, our own SERVPRO Disaster Recovery Team - Team Wall crew members, Sulma, Mauricio, Jefferson, Karen, and Karla, were all stuck on I-95 while traveling from one job to another job in Virginia on Monday the 3rd.

Despite this setback, our crew members, even when put on ice (both literally and figuratively) by forces out of their control, persevered, as their first priority once they finally started moving on Tuesday night around 5 PM was to get to the Norfolk job. We would be remiss not to recognize their hard work, patience, and persistence, which ultimately make this job worthy of our “Job of the Quarter” award for the first quarter of 2022.

Just a few days into the new year, our team was already busy rolling down the highway, traveling to help those in need wherever duty called. The crew performed a COVID-19 cleaning service in Sterling, Virginia until about 4 PM on Monday the 3rd, quickly getting back on the road in order to reach the next job in Norfolk, Virginia, which was scheduled for 8 PM that night. Unfortunately, that road ended up being I-95 and little did they know, they would become stranded alongside thousands of others, unable to reach their destination on time and living off of only what they had for a cold and certainly less-than-comfortable 24 hours.

We wish to recognize Sulma, Mauricio, Jefferson, Karen, and Karla for their dedication to their work, in addition to their outstanding persistence, hustle, and the quality of their work even after such unthinkable challenges.  Many people, after enduring what they did, may not have continued on to the job after finally getting out of that traffic, but Sulma and her team persevered, putting their customers first when it was difficult to do so, which makes their efforts even more admirable.
